MOVING TO BOLIVIA

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO

Required Documents: Inventory with exact number of bottles and containers
Customs Regulations: Owner has to pay full duties and taxes.
Clearance: 3 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks:

DIPLOMATIC REMOVALS

Required Documents:
  1. Packing list
  2. Valid Passport
  3. Original Bill of Lading or Airway Bill
Customs Regulations: Duty free entry for foreign diplomats. Bolivian diplomats returning to Bolivia are not privileged with a special status; they pay full taxes and duties.
Clearance: 2 days, after obtaining the tax exemption form. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks: The tax exemption form must be obtained by the customer’s office in Bolivia after arrival of the customer and the shipment in Bolivia.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

Required Documents:
  1. Inventory
  2. Valid passport
  3. Original Bill of Lading or Airway Bill
Customs Regulations: Used household goods and personal effects are allowed into Bolivia. Customer must pay full duties and taxes.
Clearance: 3 to 4 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks: Customs Authorities reserve the right to inspect and control the goods before clearing them.

NEW ELECTRICAL GOODS

Required Documents:
  1. Commercial Invoice
  2. Packing list
  3. Copy of Bill of Lading or Airway Bill
Customs Regulations: Customer has to pay full duties and taxes.
Clearance: 3 to 5 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks:

PETS AND ANIMALS

Required Documents: Health Certificate issued by competent veterinary surgeon at the country of origin abroad.
Customs Regulations: Importation admitted, provided no symptom or suspicion of infection, or illness is shown.
Clearance: 2 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks: The Health Certificate must be recently issued.

VEHICLES

Required Documents:
  1. Commercial Invoice
  2. Certificate of Origin
  3. Certificate of Driving conditions, proving that vehicle is in good condition.
Customs Regulations: Importation admitted. Pay full taxes and duties, of around 45% of CIF value. Final valued inspection form is required for clearance.
Clearance: 4 to 6 days. Customer presence is required for clearance.
Remarks: Diplomatic cars do not require the valued inspection. For those who are not diplomatic personnel, a prior shipping valued Inspection at origin by a Bolivian contractor company for this service is required. Request recent information for each car to come to Bolivia.
