Required Documents: Certificate of exemption from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran
Customs Regulations: Duty-free imports for foreign diplomats. Customs clearances are performed in two stages. Regardless of point of entry or final destination, all goods must be transferred to Tehran South Customs for final clearance.
Clearance: Stage 1: Transit to Tehran South Customs takes 7 to 10 days from Bandar Abbas, one day from the Airport, and 2 days from Tehran West Customs. Stage 2: Final clearance in Tehran takes one day.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS
Required Documents: Foreign Citizens: (1) Valid passport (2) Residence and work permit 3)Inventory/packing list Returning Iranians: (1) Proof of residence abroad for longer than six months (2)Valid passport (3) Packing list (Goods must originate from place of residency)
Customs Regulations: Used household goods are duty-free; new objects are liable for duties and taxes.
Clearance: 1 to 2 days in Tehran, 5 to 7 days in Bandar Abbas. Presence of owner not required if legal Power of Attorney issued to agent, signed by owner and verified by an Iranian Notary Public.
Remarks: All goods are inspected by Custom’s authorities.
VEHICLES
Required Documents: Diplomatic Personnel: (1) Exemption documents from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2) Certificate of Registration Non-Diplomatic: (1) Import of cars are prohibited by individuals without an authorization from Ministry of Commerce, which is a very lengthy procedure and must be arranged by the owners.
