ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO

Required Documents:  Itemized list stating brand, number of bottles, and litres. Customs may at any time request to see itemized list.
Customs Regulations: No permit required if part of household goods and in reasonable quantity. Subject to payment of high import taxes. Must be declared.

RemarksImport taxes based on percentage of spirit of alcoholic beverages to be assessed by customs. Intoxicating liquors, the bottles or labels of which have been marked with the legend ‘Singapore Duty Not Paid’ and cigarettes marked ‘Singapore Duty Not Paid’ or with the prefix letter ‘E’ before the code number or letters or any other designation embossed or printed on the packet are not allowed.

RemarksArms, explosives, bullet-proof clothing, pistols, revolvers, weapons, spears, swords & toy guns are allowed entry upon production of an import permit or authorization from the appropriate authority.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

Required Documents:  (1) OBL (2) Inventory (3) Passport of Owner (4) Work Permit aka employment pass (5) Customs Duty Exemption Certificate form (6) Letter of Sponsorship from employer (7) Customs duty exemption form
Customs Regulations: Duty Free if: Removal goods consist of used household personal effects which have been in the owner’s use and possession abroad and they are for the continued use of the owner in his new residence. The owner intends to remain in the country for at least twelve (12) months. The articles & effects must have been in the owner’s possession and use for not less than 3 months. The goods must be imported within 6 months of his first arrival, and they must not be disposed of within 3 months from date of importation.
ClearanceFrom 3 to 7 days from date of discharge. Customer presence required for clearance? May be required.
RemarksOwner should have a work permit/employment pass valid for at least one year. If this has not been attained at the time of clearance, the owner may produce his application with his Company’s letter of sponsorship.

NEW FURNITURE

PETS AND ANIMALS

Required Documents:  (1) Health and Vaccination Certificate (2) Valid import license (two weeks prior to shipping)
Customs Regulations: Permitted into the country after fourteen (14) days from date of approval from Veterinary Authorities. Animals, birds and their by-products and plants with soil are allowed entry upon production of an import permit or authorization from the appropriate authority.

RemarksAnimal to be inspected by a Vet immediately after arrival and transported to Quarantine. Usual for owner to make own arrangements to pick up animals after Quarantine. Need full details of pets and animals in advance to apply for permit (import license). Quarantine for thirty (30) days for pets and animals from all over the world except from Untied Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Applications for exotic pets/ endangered species are strictly scrutinized. Pets/Animals arriving without import license subject to immediate re-export or being destroyed.

VEHICLES (MOTOR CARS OR MOTORCYCLES)

Required Documents:  (1) Registration Certificate (2) Insurance Papers (3) Owners Passport (4) Inward Declaration Permit (5) Customs Duty Payment receipt (6) Temporary Certificate of Entitlement (7) Certificate of Compliance (for exhaust on motorcycle only)
Customs Regulations: MOTOR CARS: Custom Duty 45% on market value of car and/or assessed by Customs. Additional registration fee 175% of value plus registration of plate approximately S$1,000. MOTORCYCLES: Custom Duty 15% on market value of motorcycle and/or assessed by Customs. Additional Registration Fee 15% of value plus registration plate approximately S$15.00.

RemarksImportation of said item must be for owner continued use and not for resale or other disposal. Dismantled vehicles not permitted entry. All information and documents required must be available in advance for document preparation. Valuation of a second-hand vehicle is assessed by Customs based on make, model and year. From this value, a depreciation allowance of 20% per year for the first four successive years and a 10% allowance for other subsequent years. Depreciation commences from the date of original registration. If date is not available, depreciation begins from December of the year of manufacture.

WEAPONS

Required Documents:
Customs Regulations: Weapons requiring permission to import include swords, knives including antiques and replicas, spear guns, blow pipes, bows and arrows. Authorization for import issued by the police authorities.

RemarksItems of this nature must be declared. Customs will order that items be handed over to the Police Authorities for Import License. Must be part of household goods and in minimize quantity.

RemarksAll films, videotapes, videodiscs, publications, audio tapes, gramophone records and compact discs have to be examined. Videotapes must be declared. Shipper must also furnish personal particulars such as name, address and identity card or passport number. Fees will be assessed for censorship. Publications and sound recordings must be declared. Where the materials require more detailed examination, the Customs officers will withhold them and issue an official receipt. Publications taken over by the Censorship Section will be examined and those found unobjectionable will be returned to shipper. No fee is charged for examination of publications.
