DIPLOMATIC REMOVALS

Required Documents:
Customs Regulations: One import of household goods shipment duty-free if recognized by the Thai government and staying in the country for a certain period (usually 1-2 years). Documents must be presented to Interior Ministry for duty-free entry. This process takes 1-2 weeks.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

Required Documents:  (1) Inventory (2) Ocean bill of lading or AWB (3) Shipper’s passport original (4) Original work permit
Customs Regulations: Two imports of household goods shipment are duty-free, one by air and one surface… All shipments must be marked on the OBL or AWB: “Used Personal Effects”. Do NOT declare the shipment as household effects or household goods. Only 1 full year work permit will allow for duty-free entry of household goods. Shipper must present original work permit.

RemarksHeavy import taxes are placed on autos, all electrical appliances, foodstuffs and luxury items, whether new or used. The entire shipment must originate from the same country as the shipper. Shipment may not arrive before the shipper. Import must occur within 6 months of date of work permit. Only one electrical item of each kind per shipment. Goods must be six months old to avoid duty. Personal computers and FAX machines may not be considered as HHG’s and therefore become dutiable.

VEHICLES

Required Documents:  Approval from the Ministry of Commerce prior to forwarding of vehicle from origin.
