NEW FURNITURE
Required Documents: 1) Purchase Invoice 2) Sales Invoice clearly identifying items, price paid, with date and place of purchase.
Customs Regulations: Items purchased within 6 months are subject to Customs Duties and VAT. They should be shown separately on Customs Form C.12/SAD.
Clearance: 7 Days. Customer’s presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Mark outside of wrapping for easy identification.
PETS AND ANIMALS
Required Documents: Proof of inoculation from registered vet.
Customs Regulations:
Clearance: Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
Remarks: Check with Ghana Customs and Dept. of Agriculture before shipping, especially for rare or endangered species. Import license is granted after the shipper has made arrangements for the period of quarantine with a licensed kennel.
VEHICLES
Required Documents: 1) Customs Form C.12/SAD 2) Proof of ownership, i.e. Insurance Certificate, Registration Card 3) Original Purchase Invoice
Customs Regulations:
Clearance: 7 Days. Customer’s presence may be required for clearance.
Remarks: May be imported duty-free if the vehicle is for commercial purpose, otherwise disposed of for 1 year after the date of importation.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO
Required Documents: Wine/Spirits separate inventory listing each bottle in 3 sub sections: 1) Makers name 2) Percentage proof 3) C.L. (Volume)
Customs Regulations: Subject to Customs Duty plus 15% VAT
Clearance: 7 Days. Customer’s presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Strongly recommended against including wine/spirits. Containers can be outturned for sake of 2 – 3 bottles of spirits. If shipped, load at rear of container for immediate access.
DIPLOMATIC REMOVALS
Required Documents: 1) Ghana Customs SAD Form C.12 2) Bill of lading/waybill 3) Clear inventory of household goods in English
Customs Regulations: Application for privilege must be lodged by appropriate Embassy to Ghana Foreign Office who, in turn, passes relevant authority to Ghana Customs.
Clearance: 7 Days. Customer’s presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Bills of Lading/Waybills should be annotated ‘Diplomatic Clearance’. Advise destination agent before arrival that a Diplomatic Clearance is required.
FIREARMS AND WEAPONS
Required Documents: 1) Proof of ownership 2) Police Import License 3) Police withdrawal permit 4) License from Ministry of Interior
Customs Regulations:
Clearance: At least 7 days. Customer’s presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Check Ghana Customs requirements at port of entry before shipping. Can be imported only through Tema, Takoradi and (KIA) Port Accra
HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS
Required Documents: 1) Ghana Customs Form C.12 2) Bill of Lading/Waybill 3) Clear inventory of household goods in English
Customs Regulations: Used household goods are allowed into Ghana duty-free, if they have been in the owner’s possession and used for at least 6 months, and are for owner’s continued use and not for resale.
Clearance: 7 Days. Customer’s presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Goods must arrive within 12 months of arrival of client.
