Required Documents:  Full detailed list of wines showing the period wines have been held by the shipper.
Customs Regulations: All wine over the concession allowance of 4.5 litres will be subject to duty; however, Customs will consider each entry on an individual basis for duty assessment.

FIREARMS AND WEAPONS

Required Documents:  (1) Police permit (2) Arms Permit/Registration Certificate, detailing make, model, and serial number
Customs Regulations: Must be packed separately and individually listed on inventory. Shipper must contact New Zealand Police Department upon arrival to obtain permits as New Zealand Customs will not give clearance of total shipment until documentation is received from the Police.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

Required Documents:  Passports
Customs Regulations: Admitted duty and tax-free provided that shipper is coming to country intending to take up permanent residence, has lived outside of country for the whole of 21 months before arrival date, has owned and used the goods before the date of shipper’s departure for New Zealand.

PETS AND ANIMALS

Required Documents:
Customs Regulations: There are prohibitions and restrictions governing the entry of domestic pets such as cats and dogs into the country and these are strictly enforced. Details and requirements can be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the nearest New Zealand High Commission, Consulate or overseas representatives.

VEHICLES

Required Documents:  (1) Passport (2) Original bill of sale showing purchase price and purchase date of vehicle (3) Continuous insurance and registration certificates to prove the length of time the vehicle has been owned by the shipper (3) Any other documents that will bear proof of length of ownership, i.e. repair accounts, service books, log books, etc. (4) Certificate of Steam Cleaning
Customs Regulations: Lefthand drive vehicles may not be imported without prior permission from the Ministry of Transport.

Remarks: One motor vehicle per person can be imported exempt from the need for an import license. A husband and wife may import one vehicle each as long as each holds a valid drivers license and can provide evidence of personal ownership and use of the vehicle. Vehicles must be steam cleaned immediately prior to departure and a Certificate of Steam Cleaning must be included with the shipping documents. An inspection of the vehicle is carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries before release is given.
