DIPLOMATIC REMOVALS
Required Documents: Diplomatic clearance form to be obtained from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait on applicable OBL or Airwaybill. Complete inventory in Arabic detailing all packages in shipment with brand name of electrical/ electronic items.
Customs Regulations: Kuwait Customs has right of inspection but no duties apply if valid diplomatic privileges have been granted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Clearance: No delay if Embassy has obtained diplomatic clearance form at least one week prior to vessel arrival. Customer presence required for clearance? No
Remarks: Consignee on Obl or Airwaybill as applicable should be in the Embassy name only.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS
Required Documents: (1) OBL or Airway Bill as applicable. (2) Inventory of Household Goods. (3) Copy of Passport with Kiama (residence permit).
Customs Regulations: Duty free entry is allowed only for air shipments consisting solely of wearing apparel/books. At discretion of Customs.
Clearance: If free clearance, 2 to 4 days. Delays may be experienced if electronic items such as computers are involved. Customer presence required for clearance? No If duty is due, an average of 10 to 15 days from the date of arrival of the shipment, and Customer’s presence will be required.
Remarks: (1) Consignee on OBL or AWB as applicable should be name of customer only. (2) C/O Destination Agent. (3) Books, video/ audio tapes, records subject to censors.
NEW FURNITURE
Required Documents: (1) Complete sales invoices identifying name of manufacturer with complete address legalized by Arab Chamber of Commerce and visaed by Kuwait Consulate. (2) Certificate of origin legalized by Arab Chamber of Commerce and visaed by Kuwait Consulate. (3) Packing list clearly showing exact number of packages with both net and gross weights.
Customs Regulations: (1) New furniture subject to 4 percent duty on ‘CIF’ value. (2) Customs duty on products imported where a locally manufactured substitute is available. Import duty can range from 10 to 25 percent.
Clearance: If all documents in order, one full work week… Customer presence required for clearance? No
Remarks: New furniture or any other new item will not be cleared without all the documents as listed in ‘Documents Required’ column. Consignee should possess a Kuwait import license, which is normally granted to all Kuwait companies registered with Ministry of Commerce. In case of consignee being non-Kuwait or consignee does not possess import license. Shipment can be cleared by obtaining a temporary import license by presenting applicable OBL or Airwaybill.
