HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

Required Documents:  Greeks repatriating, foreigners married to Greeks, Greek Military, foreign EEC members must all have stayed abroad for at least 2 years. A ‘Certificate of Repatriation’ from the nearest Greek Consulate with detailed attached list of household goods. Foreigners coming to work (excluding L89/67 companies) will need a ‘Certificate of Secondary Residence’ from nearest Consulate with list of household goods; a personal or bank guarantee for amount of duties, and a house contract.
Customs Regulations: Foreign EEC members must apply to authorities for a 5 year residence permit; deposit to customs amount equivalent to duties, until permit is obtained and will then be reimbursed.
Clearance:
RemarksElectrical appliances, one per kind, can be new, provided purchase prior to date of issuance of ‘Certificate of Repatriation.’ For foreigners coming to work, VAT would apply if shipments are imported from non-EEC countries. For foreigners coming to work, the Certificate of secondary residence must not mention that they are coming to Greece to work.
