Customs Regulations: Used household goods are allowed into Niger duty-free if it has been in the owner’s possession and used for at least 6 months, and are for owner’s continued use and not for resale. Private persons have only the possibility to import one article by type of goods, i.e. one TV, not two; but it is possible to negotiate with Customs.
Clearance: 4 days.
Remarks: CAUTION: Customer must pay a 5% statistical tax (“Taxe de Statistique”) of the declared value of inventory, unless he belongs to an exempted organization or project in Niger.
DIPLOMATIC REMOVALS
Required Documents: (1) Certificate from the Embassy or Consulate (2) Clear inventory of household goods (3) For diplomatic Air/Sea shipments, origin agent must send to destination agent a copy of AWB or OBL as soon as possible. It takes 15 days to obtain the document for free entry (franchise) from the Foreign Ministry and Customs Head Office.

Remarks: Alcohol and other spirits are prohibited and should be sent separately; only the mentioned”fond de cave”, (less than 30 bottles), is acceptable. Please note that Niger is a Muslim country.
VEHICLES
Required Documents: (1) Certificate of Registration (2) Valid passport (3) Original purchase invoice
Customs Regulations: Customer must pay 53% tax on the actual value of the vehicle, but it is possible to negotiate with Customs.

Remarks: CAUTION: Customer must pay a 5% statistical tax (“Taxe de Statistique”) of the declared value of inventory, unless he belongs to an exempted organization or project in Niger. It is important to inform the customer that tropicalized cars are highly recommended in this kind of country (very hot and sandy).
NEW FURNITURE
Required Documents: (1) Commercial invoice (2) Packing list (3) Copy of Bill of Lading (4) Certificate of origin
Customs Regulations: Customer has to pay customs duties and import tax of 17%.
